Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms cover your use of Cover Page Maker, a free tool for building university assignment cover pages. In short: use it for your own academic work, do not upload things you have no right to, and understand that we cannot promise your institution will accept any particular layout.

Draft — pending legal review

This is a working draft, published so the terms we operate under are visible rather than hidden. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and the highlighted passages below are gaps the operator still has to fill in. Where it is incomplete, ask us rather than assuming.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Cover Page Maker is provided by Acamatic Ltd ("we", "us"), a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 15068064, whose registered office is at 2nd Floor College House, 17 King Edwards Road, Ruislip, London HA4 7AE, United Kingdom. Acamatic Ltd is the data controller for this service. Engineering and day-to-day operation of this service are carried out on our behalf by our engineering team in Bangladesh, acting as our processor under a written data processing agreement. This means personal data is accessed from outside the UK — see “Where your data is held” below.

By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

2. What the service is

We provide a browser-based editor that builds an assignment cover page and lets you download it as a print-ready PDF, a set of templates to start from, and a catalogue of 60,918 university records used to pre-fill institutional details.

The tool is free to use, and the core of it works without an account. We are not obliged to keep it free forever, but we will not silently start charging for something you have already saved.

3. Accounts

You do not need an account to make and download a cover page. An account exists so you can save templates and come back to them.

  • Give accurate registration details, and keep your email address current so we can reach you about your account.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Multi-factor authentication is available and we recommend turning it on.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account.
  • You may close your account at any time.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, to attack the service, or to harm other users.

4. Acceptable use

While using the service, do not:

  • Upload or produce material that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's copyright or trade marks, or that you have no right to use.
  • Use a university's name, crest or logo to pass something off as officially issued or endorsed by that institution.
  • Forge a document — a transcript, certificate, letter or any other record — or produce anything intended to deceive an institution or an employer.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the university catalogue or the template library.
  • Probe, overload or interfere with the service or the infrastructure behind it, or try to reach data that is not yours.
  • Resell or rebrand the service as your own.

5. What you create stays yours

You keep ownership of the cover pages, text and images you create or upload. You give us only the permission we need to run the service — to store a template you chose to save, to display it back to you, and to render it into a PDF.

You are responsible for having the right to use anything you upload, including any logo or image. If you save something you should not have, we may remove it.

6. University names and logos

University names, crests and logos belong to the institutions themselves. They appear here so a student can identify their own institution and produce a cover page for it. Their presence does not mean the institution is affiliated with us, endorses us, or has approved any template.

If you represent an institution and want its details or logo changed or removed, contact us at [OPERATOR TO COMPLETE: an institutional/takedown contact address on the acamatic.com domain] and we will deal with it.

7. Your institution's rules come first

A cover page produced here is a formatting aid. It is your responsibility to follow your institution's own submission requirements — its required layout, declaration wording, plagiarism statements and deadlines. We cannot guarantee that any template satisfies the rules of any particular course, department or university, and using this tool is never a defence to an academic misconduct finding.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service up, but it is provided free and without an uptime commitment. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of it, including templates and catalogue records. If we plan to shut down a feature that holds content you saved, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export it.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that the catalogue is complete or accurate, or that a generated PDF will be accepted by anyone.

[OPERATOR TO COMPLETE: the exclusions and the cap on liability, drafted for the governing law chosen below. Consumer protection law limits what can be excluded, and this section must not be published as boilerplate — have it drafted for the jurisdiction you actually operate in.]

10. Ending this agreement

You can stop using the service at any time and close your account. We may end your access if you break these terms. Closing your account deletes the templates you saved.

11. Changes to these terms

We update the date at the top of this page when these terms change. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, stop using it and close your account.

12. Governing law and disputes

Acamatic Ltd is established in England and Wales, so English law is the consistent choice of governing law for these terms. [OPERATOR TO COMPLETE: confirm English law and the courts that have jurisdiction, and note that consumer protection law in a user's own country may still give them rights and a local forum regardless of this clause. Do not publish this page with this paragraph unresolved.]

13. Contact

Questions about these terms go to [OPERATOR TO COMPLETE: a general contact address on the acamatic.com domain].
